In a recent analysis, UBS, a leading global investment bank, has forecasted a significant upward movement for the USD/JPY currency pair, projecting it to reach 140 by the end of 2025. According to UBS, the driving force behind this bullish outlook is the anticipated narrowing of interest rate differentials between the United States and Japan. The bank expects the Federal Reserve to implement rate cuts, which could reduce the gap with Japan's historically low rates set by the Bank of Japan (BoJ).
The USD/JPY pair has been consolidating within a range of 142-148 since May, following an 11% decline earlier in the year. UBS analysts suggest that a breakout above this range could signal the start of the predicted rally towards the year-end target.
Additionally, UBS has updated its end-Q3 target for USD/JPY to 140.00 from a previous forecast of 135.00, reflecting increased confidence in the pair's upward trajectory. However, the bank maintains a more conservative year-end target of 130.00 for 2025, indicating potential volatility ahead.
